Frequently Asked Questions

How much setup time do you need?

I typically arrive 30 minutes before the music start time to unload and set up the harp and amplification. This time is included in your booking. More complex setups or venues with challenging access may require additional time.

How do we choose the music? Do you take requests?

Here is my song list šŸŽµ.
Samples can be found on my Instagram.

I’m always adding to my repertoire, and I’m happy to learn special requests! If there’s a song you have in mind that you don’t see on my list, just let me know and I’ll do my best to find a version that works beautifully on the harp.

If I need to purchase sheet music for your request, I simply ask that you cover the cost, which is usually around $10 per song. If a custom arrangement is required, I’ll let you know in advance and provide a quote based on the complexity of the arrangement.

What songs do I need to select for my ceremony?

Generally, there are three sections of the ceremony that require specific song selections:

1. Processional(s)
Some couples choose one song for the entire processional, while others choose a separate song for the couple’s entrance. For larger wedding parties, you can also choose different songs for different groups—for example, family, wedding party, and couple.

There’s no right or wrong approach, but I generally recommend keeping the number of song changes to a minimum. This allows each piece to be enjoyed for longer and creates a more natural, continuous flow.

2. Signing of the Registry
This is a nice opportunity for a more extended piece or a few different selections.

3. Recessional
Something upbeat and happy so we can celebrate you!

Other ceremony music
I generally don’t recommend having music playing during the speaking portions of the ceremony. However, other moments—such as a candle lighting, sand pouring, or other ceremony rituals—can be lovely opportunities for music.

Do I need to choose the entire song list for the prelude and postlude?

No! There’s no need to create an entire playlist. Just let me know if you have a particular vibe, genre, or specific songs you’d like included, and I can fill in the rest.

Can you accommodate different types of ceremonies?

Yes! I’m experienced with a wide variety of wedding traditions and ceremony formats, including Catholic, Sikh, Jewish, and non-religious ceremonies.

Can you play during the cocktail hour or reception?

Yes! Additional playing time can be added to your wedding package.

Can you play with other musicians?

Absolutely. I regularly perform with violinists, cellists, vocalists, and other musicians, and can help put together an ensemble for your wedding.

How do I choose what ensemble is right for me?

Solo Harp: A tried and true favourite! Elegant, intimate and incredibly versatile.Ā
Harp & Violin: Warm and expressive with endless possibilities for repertoire.
Harp & Cello: Rich, atmospheric and romantic.
Trio: Harp, Violin & Cello: Lush, full and groovy – my favourite combo to play in :)

Or let’s dream up something different!Ā
From strings to woodwinds, singers, bass, drums, you name it – I’d love to build something custom for your vision.

Will the harp be loud enough?

Yes! I always amplify the harp so it can be heard clearly without requiring me to play unnaturally loudly. For larger events, I can connect to the venue or DJ’s sound system or bring my own amplification.

What if I need a microphone for the officiant?

A wireless microphone for your officiant can be added to your ceremony setup, so your vows and ceremony can be heard clearly without needing to coordinate with another vendor. The microphone is suitable for weddings of up to 200 guests and is available for a $75 rental fee.

Can you move locations during the wedding?

Yes! I’m happy to move the harp between locations, such as from the ceremony to cocktail hour. Please allow approximately 10 minutes to move and set up in a new location.

What do you need from the venue?

  • šŸ“ Each musician needs approximately 3–4 feet of space.
  • šŸŖ‘ A standard-height, armless chair is required for each musician.
  • 🫧 No fluids or sprays, including bubble machines, can be directed at or near the instruments.
  • The harp requires a stable, level surface.

Do you need access to power?

For solo and duo performances, my equipment can run on battery power. Trios and larger ensembles require access to power.

How much space does the harp require?

The harp requires an approximately 5 Ɨ 3 foot footprint, with enough room for the instrument, bench, and safe access around it.

Can you play outdoors?

Yes! Outdoor performances have a few additional requirements.

ā˜€ļø Shade is required on sunny days. Direct sunlight and extreme heat can damage our instruments. Please provide at least 3–4 feet of shaded space per musician. As a general guideline, a 10-foot umbrella can usually provide adequate shade for up to 2 musicians.

ā˜”ļø Wooden instruments cannot get wet at all. If there is any chance of rain, we require a 10 Ɨ 10 ft pop-up tent or other secure overhead covering to protect the instruments.

šŸŖ‰ The ground must be flat and stable. Grass is fine, but if the ground is excessively muddy or wet, the harp requires a board or thick, sturdy mat underneath it. The board or mat should be at least 4 Ɨ 3 feet.

What happens if the ceremony runs late?

I’m happy to adjust the music in real time if the ceremony or processional takes longer than expected. However, I cannot guarantee that I’ll be able to stay beyond our agreed-upon end time, as I may have another commitment afterward. Overtime charges apply (billed in 15 minute increments)

Do I have to finalize all the details when I book?

No! Your wedding details can change as you plan. The information form is editable, so you can update your timeline, song choices, and other details as they come together.

What is your cancellation policy?

Deposit & Cancellation: A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due by the day of the performance. If the client cancels within 30 days of the event, the full balance remains payable.

What happens if you get sick or have an emergency?

In the rare event that I am unable to perform, I am responsible for finding a suitable replacement. Don’t worry — I have a network of trusted colleagues who can step in if needed.
